Quick Hits

Its 2:15am I am pretty tired so instead of writing a long article I have instead decided to write several small ones with my thoughts on some of the bigger stories from the day that was in sports.

Alomar Scandal

It was discovered today that former Blue jay Roberto Alomar is being sued by a former girlfriend.  What for you ask?  Trying to have unprotected sex with her while he knew that he had the aids virus.  This story really bothered me because I don't feel that this is the kind of information the public needs to know about.  He has been retired for sometime now and doens't deserve to have his name dragged through the mud.  He might be the best Blue Jay to ever play so I am gonna side with my bobby Robby A and say that no one should be hearing about this.

Tejada Pleads Guilty

Today Miguel Tejada pleaded guilty to lying to Congress.  Tejada had told Congress that he didn't know of any players in the MLB who were taking steroids.  This was recently found out to be a lie and now Tejada is facing the consequences.  This to me is a real sad story.  The man refused to be a snitch and is now being persecuted for it.  His name has already been ruined as it is and he will never even be thought of for the Hall of Fame.  Let the guy retire in peace.  If anything he was simply following the two simple rules in life, "You took your first pinch like a man and you learn two great things in your life. Look at me, never rat on your friends and always keep your mouth shut."  Good for you Miguel.

Favre Finally Retires

Brett Favre is now the latest example of an athlete who didn't know when to call it quits.  Instead of retiring with class and being a hero in Green Bay he had to come back for another year and ruin my NY Jets.  While he may always be remembered as a Packer he will retire a Jet and that bothers me, and should bother him, to no end.  Let's hope this time he stays retired for good.

Jays Blow Great Opportunity

Tell me why the Toronto Blue Jays didn't sign Bobby Abreu.  Today he signed with the Los Angelas Angels for 1 year at $5 million.  The man is one of the most consistent players in the game today.  Abreu is the only player in major-league history with 200 home runs, 300 stolen bases, a .400 on-base percentage and a .300 batting average.  But I guess those are numbers that just don't impress here in Toronto as instead we have decided to stay with Marco Scutaro and John McDonald.  Let's hope the Jays come to their senses quick and give Manny whatever money he wants to DH for them and break all his records as a Blue Jay.

Record Breaking Night

Tonight Tyler Hansborough and Danny Green joined former Wake Forest standouts Tim Duncan and Rusty LaRue as the only players to beat Mike Krzyzewski four straight times on the Cameron court that now bears his name.  North Carolina won 101-87 in what was an absolutely amazing game.  Some people feel that this rivalry is over hyped but seeing all the people there cheering loudly the entire game shows that the rivalry is still alive.  Its also odd to think that Hansborough is the 2nd highest scorer in ACC history (JJ Reddick is #1 which is even odder).  The level of talent that passes through that conference every year makes that stat real impressive.

Robby A is a bum and his name has been disgraced regardless of this next scandal. Not to mention how disgusting this scandal is in and of itself. I have no respect for a man who spits in an umpires face and disrespects his recently deceased son.

And Johnny Mac is GREAT, he will have a standout offensive season, you'll all see!
