This Blog Brought To You In Part By...

About a month ago I saw the Pepsi Cheer commercial on TV encouraging Canadians to come up with a cheer for Hockey Canada. I thought this was a sweet idea and wrote about it and how I hoped someone would come up with a universal cheer that could be used at all Canadian sporting events.

No more than a day later I was contacted by some of the people who are running the Pepsi Cheer contest. They thanked me for spreading awareness of the contest and sent me the image you see on the right so I could help them promote their contest.

I bring this up because Pepsi Cheer contacted me again the other day to inform me that the submission period was over and that they had chosen 3 finalists. I am going to put up the link to the cheers but also type them out and put up a poll question so you can vote on which cheer you like the best.

Here are the 3 cheers:

Finalist Cheer 1

Eh! O! Canada Go!

Analysis: Not bad but a little bland if you ask me. Still better than anything I could come up with.

Finalist Cheer 2

O! *clap* *clap* *clap* Canada! *clap* *clap* *clap* Let's Go! *clap* *clap* *clap* Canada!

Analysis: I like it because it has more rythm than the first cheer but it is kind of long for my liking. Cheers like Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi are amazing because they are short but get the point across.

Finalist Cheer 3

C-Eh N-Eh D-Eh We Say Go Canada Go!

Analysis: This is my personal favorite as it is short but also gets the message across that it's Canadian. Plus using Eh as A is pretty clever.

All the cheers are sweet and can be used in any sport which for me is important. Like I said before I think it would be amazing to have a universal Canadian cheer that could be used at any sporting event and I think these 3 people have come up with some great ones.

So the link to the voting page or to view the cheers with sounds is here: http://pepsi.ca/jointhecheer/Default.aspx?bhcp=1

The poll on the side is also available for voting and will be running for a while so make sure you vote so that the new official Canada cheer is something you like.

By the way this blog isn't officially sponsored by Pepsi...yet. I just love the contest idea and drink nuff Pepsi so i figured it was a good idea. Maybe they will send me some free Pepsi for my efforts. Who knows? Just Vote.
